Specialist Cleaning & Sealing of Stone / Tiles

A sealer is a solution applied to the surface of natural porous stone surfaces to protect them from staining. Remaining untreated and unprotected, such natural stone surfaces can result in stains due to constant exposure from dirt, spills from food, drink and oils, which over time can become permanently damaged.

Seeking a professional applicator, such as trained stone technicians at Diamond Stone Restoration, will ensure that the most appropriate sealers are selected for the surface type and location as well as the application process being correct.

Prior to any application process, a technician will assess the stone type, finish and location determining:

  1. the type of sealer required (water or solvent based)
  2. if stain removal is required pre-treatment
  3. if polishing or honing is required pre-treatment

A penetrating sealer is typically used on polished stone to allow it to breathe without increasing slip.
Alternatively, a variety of topical sealers may be selected in order to provide a more robust protection.

Benefits of sealing a natural stone floor include:

  • The look of the stone will be extended and preserved if sealed before use
  • An older stone that has undergone stain removal or polishing will maintain a fresher appearance for extended time
  • High traffic areas susceptible to spills, animals, foot traffic and pot plant ring marks will reduce likelihood of developing permanent stains

We are able to provide sealing to:

  • Driveways
  • Sheds
  • Pool areas
  • Work shops
  • Concrete
  • All stone surfaces indoor and outdoor
  • All stone floors
  • All tile and paver types

Diamond Stone Restoration are registered applicators for a range of sealing products, enabling us to provide warranties up to 15 years if treated stone surfaces are maintained according to instructions provided.

NOTE:

  • Sealing does NOT prevent etching to natural stone (especially marble) when exposed to acidic liquids such as wine, lemon juice or some cleaning solutions.
  • Engineered Stone is promoted as NOT requiring additional sealing as it comes with a factory seal. Should staining occur, contact the manufacturer directly for directions
